Manchester United 'hold talks' over January transfer that Erik ten Hag wanted in 2023
Posted on November 22, 2024
Manchester United have reportedly held talks with Paris Saint-Germain striker Randal Kolo Muani over a potential loan move in the January transfer window.
United have invested in centre-forwards in the last two years with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee arriving. However, the latter has struggled to make an impact in England since his £36.5million move from Bologna.
Ruben Amorim's appointment as Erik ten Hag's successor has led to speculation linking United with a new centre-forward. Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres is a popular name among the list of candidates but it appears alternatives are now being considered.
According to Le10 Sport, initial talks have taken place to bring Kolo Muani to the Premier League when the January transfer window opens. It's claimed a loan move until the end of the season is United's preferred option.
Kolo Muani was previously on United's radar in 2023 prior to his move to PSG. The 25-year-old moved to France from Eintracht Frankfurt for £64.2m plus £12.2m in add-ons but has only managed to score 11 times in 52 games.
The France international has only started two times for PSG this season, despite Kylian Mbappe's exit in the summer. During the recent international break, Kolo Muani remained adamant at breaking into Luis Enrique's XI.
"You have to keep your mental strength up, it's up to me to continue working so that the coach trusts me," he told Telefoot. "It's part of my history. I've always worked, I've never had things easy.
"I have to work harder, make an impression when he calls on me. It's up to me to give my all so that he trusts me."
