Aston Villa has initiated discussions with Borussia Dortmund regarding a potential transfer for forward Donyell Malen. Malen's situation at Dortmund has been somewhat challenging due to limited starting opportunities, prompting his interest in a move. This season, he has scored five goals in 20 appearances across all competitions, including a recent goal during Dortmund's 3-1 victory over Wolfsburg. Since joining Dortmund from PSV Eindhoven in July 2021 for £26 million, Malen has played a significant role in the team's attack, netting a total of 39 goals in 131 appearances.

In addition to their pursuit of Malen, Aston Villa is also looking to strengthen their squad with a right-sided defender.
