Manchester City Agrees Deal in Principle for Omar Marmoush

Posted on January 10, 2025

Manchester City has reportedly reached a deal in principle to sign forward Omar Marmoush from Eintracht Frankfurt, pending an official agreement between the clubs. The 25-year-old Egyptian international has been in impressive form, scoring 13 goals in the Bundesliga this season, making him one of the top performers in the league. Eintracht Frankfurt is seeking around £67 million (€80 million) for Marmoush, and negotiations are expected to commence shortly.

Marmoush has expressed his desire to join City, viewing them as a prime destination under the management of Pep Guardiola, who has identified him as a top target. While the asking price from Frankfurt may be steep, City and Marmoush's representatives consider a more realistic transfer fee to be in the range of £42 million to £50 million (€50-€60 million). Given that there is no release clause in his contract, any offers significantly lower than Frankfurt's asking price are likely to be dismissed.

The Egyptian forward's versatility allows him to play across various attacking positions, and his current tally of 18 goals in all competitions this season positions him as a key target for City as they look to bolster their squad. As the January transfer window progresses, both clubs are expected to engage in discussions, with City keen to finalize the deal in the coming days.
