Isak Focuses on Carabao Cup Final, Puts Future on Hold
Posted on March 15, 2025
Newcastle United forward Alexander Isak is prioritizing the upcoming Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, stating he is not thinking about his future beyond this season. With 22 goals to his name, Isak has garnered attention from various clubs, including Arsenal, but he insists that his focus remains solely on helping Newcastle end their 70-year trophy drought. The striker is under contract until 2028, and he believes now is not the time to be distracted by transfer speculation.
In his pre-match comments, Isak expressed confidence in Newcastle's potential, saying that the club can achieve great success and that winning a trophy would be monumental for the team and its supporters. He emphasized the importance of concentrating on the task at hand, urging everyone to channel their energy into the final against Liverpool rather than discussions about his future. "This season we can achieve winning a trophy which would be amazing for everyone," Isak stated.
As the team prepares for the final, Isak will be without his suspended teammate Anthony Gordon, which adds to the challenge. Despite this setback, he is ready to face Liverpool’s strong defense, including captain Virgil van Dijk, and is determined to contribute positively to the team's performance. "I will obviously try to use my qualities to make us better," Isak said, showcasing his team-first mentality as they aim for glory at Wembley.
