AC Milan Dismisses Manager Sergio Conceicao After Six-Month Tenure
Posted on May 30, 2025
AC Milan has parted ways with manager Sergio Conceicao just six months after his appointment, following a disappointing season that saw the club finish eighth in Serie A, failing to qualify for European competitions. Conceicao, who was hired in December after the dismissal of Paulo Fonseca, managed to secure the Italian Super Cup shortly after taking charge but could not maintain momentum within the league.
During his brief tenure, Conceicao's side struggled to deliver consistent performances, highlighted by a loss in the Coppa Italia final against Bologna. Despite his previous success at Porto, where he won 11 trophies over six years, his stint at Milan did not yield the desired results.
Milan released a statement thanking Conceicao and his staff for their commitment and professionalism, noting his contribution to the club's 50th trophy win. The announcement comes amid reports that former manager Massimiliano Allegri, who previously led the team from 2010 to 2014, is set to return to the helm.
The decision to sack Conceicao indicates the club's ambition to quickly return to a competitive status, especially with rivals Inter Milan advancing to the Champions League final. As AC Milan looks to rebound from a challenging season, the search for a new manager will be crucial in shaping the team's future direction.
