Jobe Bellingham Carves His Own Path Following Brother Jude’s Success
Posted on June 09, 2025
Jobe Bellingham is set to follow in the footsteps of his older brother Jude by making a significant move to Borussia Dortmund. The 19-year-old midfielder has been impressive at Sunderland, helping the club gain promotion to the Premier League. However, instead of playing in England's top tier, Jobe will join Dortmund in a deal worth up to £31 million, marking him as the club's second-most expensive signing after Ousmane Dembele.
While Jude's move to Dortmund at 17 was a pivotal moment in his career, Jobe aims to establish his own identity in the sport. Former Sunderland manager Tony Mowbray highlighted Jobe's desire to succeed on his own terms, stating that he wants to showcase his abilities rather than rely on his brother's achievements.
Jobe's versatility allows him to play as a defensive or box-to-box midfielder, a role he enjoys most. Throughout the 2024-25 season, he made 43 appearances for Sunderland, scoring four goals and providing three assists, demonstrating his potential as a valuable player.
The Bellingham brothers, both hailing from Stourbridge and rising through Birmingham City's academy, may have the opportunity to represent England together in the future. Jude has already made a significant impact on the national team, while Jobe has played for England's youth squads and is aiming to make his mark as well.
As Jobe prepares for his new chapter in the Bundesliga, he carries the hopes of proving himself while navigating the high expectations set by his brother's illustrious career. The upcoming Club World Cup could present an exciting possibility for a head-to-head matchup with Jude if both teams progress through the tournament.
