Posted on June 13, 2025
Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially joined Real Madrid after departing Liverpool, expressing that this move is a "dream come true" and a "huge responsibility." During his presentation, the 26-year-old right-back addressed the audience in Spanish, showcasing his commitment to integrating into the club and its culture.
Real Madrid secured Alexander-Arnold's services by paying Liverpool to release him early from his contract, which was set to expire on June 30. This move allows him to participate in the upcoming Club World Cup. Alexander-Arnold's presentation included a highlights video of his impressive career at Liverpool, where he made 354 appearances, scoring 23 goals and providing 86 assists since his debut in 2016.
In his speech, he thanked Real Madrid president Florentino Perez for the opportunity, stating, "Signing for a club like Real Madrid doesn't happen every day. It's a dream come true." He expressed his eagerness to contribute to the team, win titles, and grow as a player alongside some of the world's best.
In a press conference held shortly after his presentation, Alexander-Arnold revealed that he has been learning Spanish for several months, which impressed Perez and the audience. He emphasized his intention to make a strong start at the club, beginning with the Club World Cup.
Alexander-Arnold will wear the number 12 shirt at Real Madrid, as opposed to the number 66 he wore at Liverpool. He joins fellow England international Jude Bellingham, and both players are expected to play key roles for the team.
As he embarks on this new chapter, Alexander-Arnold looks forward to working under Real Madrid's new manager, Xabi Alonso, who he has admired since his time at Liverpool. The England international aims to replicate his past successes and help Real Madrid continue its rich legacy in football.
