Darwin Núñez Prepared to Accept Transfer Offer as Liverpool Sets Asking Price
Posted on June 17, 2025
Darwin Núñez is reportedly ready to accept a transfer away from Liverpool, with the club setting an asking price of at least £50 million for the striker. After joining Liverpool for a substantial fee of up to £85 million from Benfica in 2022, Núñez has not lived up to the high expectations, scoring 40 goals over his three seasons at Anfield, significantly fewer than his impressive tally of 34 goals in his final season at Benfica.
Despite contributing important goals, the 25-year-old striker's overall performance has led to disappointment among Liverpool management, who anticipated more from such a significant investment. During the January transfer window, Liverpool received offers for Núñez but opted to keep him to maintain squad stability as they pursued the Premier League title.
With Liverpool now looking to bolster their squad further, manager Arne Slot is reportedly open to selling Núñez if it helps facilitate new signings. The club has already secured Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen and is expected to finalize a deal worth around £115 million for Florian Wirtz.
Núñez has attracted interest from several clubs, particularly Napoli, where manager Antonio Conte sees him as a top target. The Uruguayan international is open to the idea of joining Napoli, especially after the club's successful acquisition of Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City.
While there are offers from Saudi clubs, Núñez is hesitant to leave the competitive environment of European football. Despite his mixed tenure at Liverpool, he possesses the qualities of a top-class striker, and there are suggestions that clubs like Paris Saint-Germain could also explore a move for him.
As the summer transfer window approaches, the situation surrounding Núñez will be closely monitored, with Liverpool’s asking price likely to shape the interest from potential suitors.
