Manchester United Submits Improved £60 Million Bid for Bryan Mbeumo
Posted on June 24, 2025
Manchester United has made an enhanced offer of more than £60 million for Brentford striker Bryan Mbeumo, following an earlier bid of £45 million plus up to £10 million in add-ons that was rejected. The Red Devils are keen to secure Mbeumo as their second signing of the summer, especially after completing the £62.5 million transfer of Matheus Cunha from Wolves.
Discussions regarding Mbeumo are expected to continue this week, as United aims to strengthen the squad under manager Ruben Amorim before the pre-season training resumes on July 7. Mbeumo finished the previous season with a career-high 20 goals and nine assists for Brentford, showcasing his valuable experience in the Premier League, which is crucial for United's ambitions to start the next season positively after a lackluster performance under Erik ten Hag.
Brentford is likely to hold out for a fee comparable to that received for Cunha before considering the sale of Mbeumo, who still has one year left on his contract. Additionally, Mbeumo’s participation in the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations with Cameroon could see him miss the first four weeks of the 2025-26 season, as Cameroon begins their campaign against Gabon on December 24.
The renewed pursuit of Mbeumo comes amid speculation surrounding Alejandro Garnacho's future at United, particularly after he was seen posting on social media wearing an Aston Villa shirt with the name 'Rashford,' hinting at potential changes within the squad. With Mbeumo’s skills and contributions, United hopes to enhance their attacking options heading into the new season.
