Neymar Renews Contract with Santos Until December
Posted on June 25, 2025
Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer, Neymar, has officially renewed his contract with his boyhood club, Santos, extending his stay until December. The 33-year-old forward returned to Santos in January on a six-month deal following the termination of his contract with Al-Hilal in the Saudi Pro League. Since rejoining, Neymar has made a significant impact, scoring 141 goals and providing 69 assists in 243 appearances for the club.
In his announcement, Neymar expressed his deep emotional connection to Santos, stating, "Santos is not just my team, it's my home, my roots, my history and my life." He emphasized his desire to fulfill unachieved dreams in his career while reflecting on the importance of the club in his life. Neymar's new deal also includes an option for extension, which underscores his commitment to the team.
Santos' president, Marcelo Teixeira, celebrated Neymar's renewal, calling it a historic day for Brazilian football and a gift for Santos fans. He acknowledged the necessity of Neymar's presence in the team's reconstruction process, stating, "Our idol, our boy, the prince with our number 10 shirt remains." This renewal is expected to bolster Santos as they aim to reestablish themselves at a competitive level in Brazilian football.
Neymar was recalled to the Brazil national squad earlier this year after a lengthy absence but has not played for his country since suffering a knee injury against Uruguay in October 2023. With his renewed commitment to Santos, fans can look forward to seeing him play regularly as he continues to build his legacy with the club.
