Kepa Arrizabalaga Set to Join Arsenal from Chelsea
Posted on June 25, 2025
Arsenal is on the verge of finalizing the signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, with the deal expected to be completed this week. The 30-year-old shot-stopper has a £5 million release clause in his contract, which he extended by an additional year last summer after a successful loan spell at Bournemouth.
Kepa, who remains the world's most expensive goalkeeper following his £72 million transfer from Athletic Bilbao to Chelsea in 2018, will join Arsenal to compete for the starting position with fellow Spaniard David Raya. The Gunners were in search of a new backup goalkeeper after deciding against making Neto's loan from Bournemouth permanent.
During his time at Chelsea, Kepa made 163 appearances and won four major honors, including a memorable loan stint at Real Madrid, where he played a significant role in securing La Liga and the Champions League titles during the 2023-24 season. His arrival at Arsenal is seen as a strategic move to bolster the team's goalkeeping options as they look to enhance their competitiveness in the Premier League.
With Kepa’s experience and proven track record, Arsenal aims to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming season and improve their chances of success on multiple fronts.
