Arsenal in Talks to Sign Valencia Defender Cristhian Mosquera

Posted on June 27, 2025

Arsenal is reportedly in negotiations to acquire 20-year-old defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia as part of their efforts to strengthen their defensive lineup this summer. The young Spaniard, who can play both centre-back and right-back, has emerged as a favored option for the Gunners after they expressed interest in other defenders like Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace. However, Guehi's potential reluctance to join Arsenal, given the competition for places behind established players Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba, may have shifted the club's focus to Mosquera.

Mosquera has made a significant impact at Valencia since graduating from their academy, amassing 90 appearances and solidifying his place in the starting lineup last season, where he played every minute in 37 of the club's 38 La Liga matches. His consistent performance at the top level has drawn attention from top clubs, with Arsenal keen to enhance their defensive options ahead of the new season.

In addition to pursuing Mosquera, Arsenal is also close to finalizing a deal for Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard, with a fee of up to £15 million agreed upon. The Denmark international is expected to undergo a medical soon. Furthermore, Arsenal is on the verge of completing the signing of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea, adding to their growing list of signings.

Meanwhile, the club has secured the long-term future of 18-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly, who recently signed a five-year deal after making 39 appearances last season. Fellow defender Gabriel has also committed to a long-term contract this month, indicating a focus on building a strong and cohesive squad for the upcoming campaign. As Arsenal navigates their transfer strategy, the addition of Mosquera could play a vital role in reinforcing their defensive capabilities.
