Liverpool Reject Bayern Munich's Bid for Luis Diaz

Posted on July 03, 2025

Liverpool has officially declined a formal approach from Bayern Munich for forward Luis Diaz. The Premier League club has communicated to Bayern's director of sport, Max Eberl, that they have no intention of selling the 28-year-old Colombian international. This decision follows a similar rejection of an offer from Barcelona earlier in the summer, reinforcing Liverpool's stance that Diaz is not on the market.

Luis Diaz has been a pivotal player for Liverpool since his transfer from Porto in January 2022, contributing significantly to the team's success. Last season, he scored 22 goals across all competitions, including 13 in the league, aiding Liverpool in clinching the Premier League title by a comfortable 10-point margin. His performance has solidified his role as an integral part of manager Arne Slot's title-winning side.

Despite the interest from top European clubs, Diaz has expressed his happiness at Liverpool. While on international duty, he stated, "I'm very happy at Liverpool - I've always said so." He acknowledged the ongoing transfer market and mentioned that his future depends on discussions with the club regarding a potential contract extension or fulfilling the remaining two years of his current deal.

In addition to the transfer news, Liverpool has also confirmed the appointment of former Netherlands international Giovanni van Bronckhorst as an assistant coach to Arne Slot. Van Bronckhorst, who has managed clubs like Rangers and Feyenoord, replaces John Heitinga, who has taken the head coach position at Ajax.

As the transfer window progresses, it appears that Liverpool is committed to retaining Luis Diaz, emphasizing his importance to the squad and their aspirations for the upcoming season.
