Chelsea Set to Sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund

Posted on July 04, 2025

Chelsea is on the verge of finalizing the signing of winger Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, as confirmed by the German club. The deal, which is reported to be worth £48.5 million plus an additional £3.5 million in potential add-ons, was agreed upon during discussions held in Fort Lauderdale, where both clubs are currently participating in the Club World Cup.

Gittens, a 20-year-old England Under-21 international, will not be eligible to play for Chelsea until after the conclusion of the tournament. The young winger joined Dortmund from Manchester City in 2020 and has made a significant impact, scoring 17 goals and providing 14 assists in 107 appearances for the Bundesliga side. Dortmund's sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, expressed satisfaction with the deal, acknowledging the challenges of negotiations but emphasizing the club's financial ambitions and planning security moving forward.

In June, Gittens had reportedly agreed to a seven-year contract with Chelsea, indicating the club's confidence in his potential. His addition comes as part of a busy transfer period for Chelsea, which has already seen the signings of several players, including striker Liam Delap, forward Joao Pedro, midfielder Dario Essugo, and defender Mamadou Sarr. Gittens' arrival is anticipated to bolster Chelsea's attacking options as they look to enhance their squad ahead of the new season.

As the team prepares for their upcoming quarter-final match against Palmeiras, Gittens' new journey at Chelsea is set to begin soon, marking an exciting chapter in his career.
