Anthony Elanga Joins Newcastle in £55 Million Transfer from Nottingham Forest
Posted on July 12, 2025
Newcastle United has officially completed the signing of Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth up to £55 million. The transfer involves a fixed fee of £52 million with an additional £3 million in performance-related add-ons. Elanga, who is just 23 years old, was a standout performer for Nottingham Forest last season, scoring six goals and providing 11 assists in the Premier League, playing a crucial role in the club's qualification for European competition.
After an impressive stint at Nottingham Forest, during which Elanga showcased his speed and creativity, he expressed his excitement about joining Newcastle. In a statement, he highlighted his eagerness to contribute to a team that won a trophy last season and is building something special. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe praised Elanga's unique attributes, noting that his pace and ability to create scoring opportunities will enhance the team's attacking options.
Elanga becomes the second winger to join Newcastle this summer, following the acquisition of Spanish youngster Antonio Cordero, although Cordero is expected to go out on loan. The signing of Elanga comes at a pivotal moment for Newcastle as they aim to strengthen their squad ahead of competing in the Champions League. Additionally, his former club Manchester United stands to benefit from this transfer due to a sell-on clause negotiated when Elanga moved to Nottingham Forest, which will net them between £6 million and £8 million from this deal.
As Newcastle prepares for the upcoming season, Elanga's addition marks a significant step in their ambition to establish themselves as a formidable force in both domestic and European football.
