Diogo Jota Inducted into Wolves Hall of Fame Following Tragic Passing

Posted on July 18, 2025

Wolverhampton Wanderers have honored former forward Diogo Jota by inducting him into the club's Hall of Fame, a tribute that acknowledges both his significant contributions on the pitch and the profound impact his recent passing has had on the football community. Jota, along with his brother Andre Silva, tragically lost their lives in a car accident on July 3 in Spain.

Jota joined Wolves from Atletico Madrid in July 2017, initially on loan before making a permanent switch. He made a remarkable impact during his time at the club, scoring 44 goals in 131 appearances and playing a pivotal role in their Championship-winning season in 2017-18, which secured their promotion to the Premier League. His contributions also helped Wolves achieve a seventh-place finish in their first season back in the top flight, qualifying for the Europa League.

The decision to induct Jota into the Hall of Fame was made swiftly and unanimously, reflecting the deep affection and respect the club has for him. John Richards, chairman of the Hall of Fame and vice-president of Wolves, expressed that the tragic loss has left a significant void in the hearts of fans and the football community, stating, "This gesture is made with real love and admiration." Wolves also plan to honor the memory of Jota and Silva during their pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo on August 9 and at their opening Premier League match against Manchester City on August 16.
