Marcus Rashford Close to Loan Move to Barcelona

Posted on July 21, 2025

Marcus Rashford is on the verge of completing a loan move from Manchester United to Barcelona, with both clubs reportedly reaching a broad agreement. The 27-year-old forward flew to Spain to finalize the details ahead of the proposed transfer, which could also include an option for a permanent deal at the end of the season.

Barcelona is expected to cover Rashford's wages during the loan period. The discussions have centered around the buyout fee that would be implemented should the move become permanent. Rashford has expressed a strong desire to play for Barcelona, having previously shown interest in a transfer during the January window before opting for a loan move to Aston Villa.

The potential transfer has received approval from Barcelona's head coach Hansi Flick, who spoke with Rashford and is keen on integrating him into the squad. Rashford still has two years remaining on his contract with Manchester United, but his career at Old Trafford has faced challenges, particularly after a public fallout with manager Ruben Amorim regarding his efforts on the pitch.

Former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham has shared his concerns about Rashford’s situation, labeling it "soul-destroying" that the player is eager to leave the club. Sheringham believes Rashford has not earned the right to move to a club of Barcelona's stature given his recent performances.

As the transfer window progresses, Rashford's move to Barcelona could mark a new chapter in his career, with fans eagerly anticipating how he will fit into the Catalan club's plans.
