West Ham United Signs Kyle Walker-Peters on Free Transfer

Posted on July 21, 2025

West Ham United has secured the signing of defender Kyle Walker-Peters on a free transfer after his departure from Southampton. The 28-year-old full-back has signed a three-year contract with the Hammers, adding depth to their defensive lineup. Walker-Peters, who has earned two caps for England, is viewed as a key addition by West Ham manager Graham Potter, who expressed admiration for the player's abilities and professionalism.

Walker-Peters began his career at Tottenham Hotspur before moving to Southampton on loan in January 2020, later making the transfer permanent that summer. Over his tenure with Southampton, he made 202 appearances but left after the club's relegation from the Premier League last season. He was initially close to joining Besiktas but opted for West Ham after discussions with manager Graham Potter, who played a significant role in his decision to switch clubs.

In addition to Walker-Peters, West Ham has been active in the transfer market, having signed Senegal defender El Hadji Malick Diouf for £19 million from Slavia Prague and completing a permanent deal for defender Jean-Clair Todibo from Nice. The club recently sold winger Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham for £55 million, indicating a strategic reshuffle aimed at enhancing their squad for the upcoming season. Walker-Peters is eager to contribute to West Ham's ambitions, expressing enthusiasm for the team's goals and the opportunity to work under Potter’s coaching style.
