Bryan Mbeumo Joins Manchester United in £65m Move
Posted on July 22, 2025
Manchester United has officially signed Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for an initial fee of £65 million, marking the end of one of the summer's most protracted transfer negotiations. The 25-year-old winger has signed a five-year contract with the option for an additional year. Mbeumo expressed his excitement about joining "the club of his dreams," highlighting his lifelong admiration for Manchester United.
Mbeumo's transfer follows a series of offers from United, starting with a £55 million bid in June, which was rejected. After further negotiations, United's third offer, which included £6 million in potential add-ons, was accepted last week. The winger has been in impressive form, having scored 20 goals and provided seven assists in the Premier League last season, achieving career highs in multiple statistical categories.
This transfer not only represents a significant financial move for United but also positions Mbeumo as a crucial part of manager Ruben Amorim's plans for the upcoming season. He is expected to join the squad for their pre-season tour of the United States, where he will wear the number 19 shirt. Mbeumo's departure from Brentford marks a record sale for the club, surpassing the previous record held by Ivan Toney's transfer.
United's director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Mbeumo's consistent performance in the Premier League, stating that his ability to contribute both goals and assists makes him an excellent fit for the team. As Manchester United looks to strengthen its squad, Mbeumo’s arrival is seen as a vital addition to their ambitions for the new season.
