Ruben Amorim: Manchester United Will Not Sell Players Cheaply
Posted on July 26, 2025
Manchester United's head coach, Ruben Amorim, has made it clear that the club will not entertain low offers for players deemed surplus to requirements this summer. Amid ongoing speculation about the future of several players, including Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony, Amorim has emphasized that rival clubs might be surprised if they think they can acquire these players on the cheap.
At the beginning of pre-season, Amorim set aside a group of players he referred to as the "bomb squad," which includes Garnacho, Sancho, and Antony, to train separately at Carrington while the rest of the squad prepares for the upcoming season. Marcus Rashford, previously part of this group, has since completed a move to Barcelona, described as a "dream" transfer.
While clubs like Real Betis and Juventus have shown interest in Antony and Sancho respectively, Amorim has stated that no deals are imminent. He warned potential suitors that if clubs expect United to lower their asking prices as the transfer window approaches its closing date on September 1, they will be mistaken. Amorim expressed confidence in the club's valuation of these players, stating, "If they don't reach that, they will be Manchester United players, no doubt about that."
The focus for United now is to create space for new signings while ensuring that those players who want to leave are able to find new clubs. Amorim indicated that the club is allowing these players time to reflect on their future, but he remains open to reintegrating them into the squad if necessary.
Despite recent acquisitions including Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha, United is still seeking additional reinforcements, particularly in the striker and holding midfield positions. However, Amorim reassured fans that he is content with the current squad and is ready to face Arsenal in the season opener with the players available to him.
As United prepares for the new season, Amorim’s steadfast approach to player sales reflects a commitment to maintaining the club's standards and ensuring that any transitions are beneficial for both the team and the individuals involved.
