Luis Diaz Joins Bayern Munich in £65.5 Million Transfer from Liverpool
Posted on July 31, 2025
Luis Diaz has completed a high-profile move from Liverpool to Bayern Munich for a reported fee of £65.5 million. The Colombian winger signed a four-year contract with the Bundesliga champions, marking the end of his three-and-a-half-year tenure at Anfield. Diaz expressed his pride in his achievements with Liverpool, stating he felt he had "fulfilled his duty" during his time at the club.
The transfer comes after Liverpool initially rejected an offer from Bayern of £58.6 million, but they later accepted the revised bid, allowing Diaz to undergo a medical with the German side. During his time with Liverpool, Diaz won multiple trophies, including the Premier League, FA Cup, and EFL Cup, while also reaching the Champions League final in 2022.
In an emotional farewell, Diaz reflected on his time at Liverpool, highlighting the relationships he built with teammates, coaches, and fans. He expressed his gratitude and noted that his departure would have been a "perfect goodbye" had it not been for the tragic loss of teammate Diogo Jota earlier this month. He leaves Liverpool after scoring 41 goals in 148 appearances, having enjoyed a particularly fruitful last season with 17 goals.
The departure of Diaz has significant implications for Liverpool's squad as the club has already generated approximately £115 million in player sales this summer. This financial influx is expected to help support their spending on new signings, with the Reds reportedly interested in Newcastle striker Alexander Isak as they look to reshape their attacking options following Diaz's exit.
As Bayern Munich welcomes Diaz into their ranks, they will be looking to leverage his skills and experience to strengthen their attacking lineup in the upcoming season.
