Chelsea Negotiates to Sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United
Posted on August 08, 2025
Chelsea is currently in discussions with Manchester United regarding the potential signing of winger Alejandro Garnacho. The 21-year-old Argentine has reportedly been advised to seek a new club by United head coach Ruben Amorim, who believes Garnacho is ready for a different challenge. The young talent joined United from Atletico Madrid at the age of 16 and has since shown promise, scoring 16 goals in the Premier League.
Despite nearly joining Chelsea in January, a deal did not materialize, but both clubs have maintained communication throughout the summer. As Chelsea intensifies negotiations, there has yet to be a finalized agreement. United is keen to generate funds from the transfer, particularly given Garnacho's status as a home-grown player, which could positively impact their profit and sustainability targets.
Amorim's comments following the Europa League final defeat by Tottenham in May have raised eyebrows, as he told Garnacho to find another club. Although the winger participated in the club's post-season tour of Asia, he appeared detached and was not included in the recent pre-season trip to the United States. Instead, he has been training separately from the main squad, alongside other players who are not in Amorim's plans.
The situation reflects a broader theme within United's squad as they look to reshape their team dynamics. Amorim acknowledged Garnacho's talent but recognized the player's desire for a change, indicating that sometimes a player simply needs a new environment to thrive. As Chelsea moves forward with negotiations, it remains to be seen how this transfer saga will unfold and whether Garnacho will soon don the blue of Chelsea.
