Brentford Agrees Club-Record £42 Million Deal for Dango Ouattara

Posted on August 15, 2025

Brentford has reached an agreement to sign winger Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth for a club-record fee of £42 million. The deal comes after intense negotiations over the last 72 hours, with Brentford eager to enhance their attacking options ahead of the new Premier League season. Despite Bournemouth's initial reluctance to part ways with the 23-year-old, Ouattara expressed a strong desire to leave, prompting the Cherries to accept the offer that they deemed fair market value, which may also include performance-related add-ons.

Ouattara, who joined Bournemouth from Lorient in January 2023, has made 88 appearances for the club and scored 11 goals. His arrival at Brentford marks a significant investment, surpassing their previous record of £30 million paid for striker Igor Thiago last summer. The versatile Burkina Faso international is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days as he prepares to transition to his new club.

In light of Ouattara's departure, Bournemouth is now actively seeking replacements, with Bayer Leverkusen's Amine Adli identified as a key target. As the new Premier League season approaches, Bournemouth's head coach, Andoni Iraola, is faced with the challenge of reshaping his squad following significant changes, including the departure of key players. The club aims to ensure they remain competitive after achieving a record points tally in the previous season.

Overall, this transfer represents a notable shift for both clubs, as Brentford looks to solidify its position in the Premier League while Bournemouth adapts to the evolving dynamics of its squad.
