Nottingham Forest Secures Signings of Omari Hutchinson and James McAtee

Posted on August 15, 2025

Nottingham Forest has finalized deals to acquire Ipswich Town winger Omari Hutchinson and Manchester City midfielder James McAtee, with the total financial outlay for both players amounting to approximately £67.5 million. The agreement for Hutchinson is valued at around £37.5 million, while McAtee's deal is nearly £30 million and includes a sell-on and buy-back clause. This marks a significant investment in the club’s attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming Premier League season.

Hutchinson, who is 21 years old, joined Ipswich from Chelsea for £20 million last summer and made a notable impact, scoring three goals in 31 league appearances. He was part of the England Under-21 team that won the Euro 2025 championship, where he scored in the final against Germany. His signing comes after Forest's initial £35 million bid was rejected, but following further negotiations, they managed to secure the player.

McAtee, 22, who captained the England Under-21s to their Euro victory, has been a long-term target for Forest. Although he made 27 appearances for Manchester City last season, he only started three Premier League matches. His move to Forest is expected to provide the midfield with additional creativity and depth.

In addition to these two signings, Forest is reportedly in advanced talks to sign striker Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes, further bolstering their squad ahead of their Premier League opener against Brentford. Following the sale of Anthony Elanga to Newcastle for a club-record fee, these acquisitions highlight Forest's commitment to strengthening their team for the challenges ahead in the Premier League.
