Rasmus Hojlund's Prospects at AC Milan Diminish as Victor Boniface Approaches Loan Move
Posted on August 21, 2025
Rasmus Hojlund's potential transfer to AC Milan is now in serious doubt, as the Serie A club inches closer to securing a loan deal for Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface. Hojlund, the 22-year-old forward currently with Manchester United, has seen his opportunities for a loan move to Milan stall due to negotiations that did not include an obligation to buy, which has led Milan to pivot towards Boniface instead.
The interest in Boniface appears to be a strategic move by Milan as they seek a forward following their unsuccessful pursuit of Hojlund. While Hojlund expressed his intention to remain at United, citing a desire to prove himself after a challenging start to his career there, the arrival of Slovenia international Benjamin Sesko for £73.7 million has further complicated his situation at Old Trafford. Hojlund's lack of playing time was evident when he was left out of the squad entirely for United's recent Premier League match against Arsenal, indicating his diminishing role in the team.
Milan's approach for Boniface, which reportedly includes an option to convert the loan into a permanent transfer next summer, could signify a missed opportunity for Hojlund, who might have seen the Serie A club as a stepping stone to revitalize his career. With Napoli also in the market for a striker following Romelu Lukaku's injury, Hojlund’s window for a move appears to be closing as Milan's focus shifts away from him.
As the transfer window progresses, both Hojlund and Milan will need to reassess their positions, as the dynamics of the market are changing rapidly. The expectation is that Boniface's impending arrival will put an end to the pursuit of Hojlund, leaving the Danish international to reconsider his next steps with Manchester United.
