Wolves Reject Newcastle's £50 Million Bid for Jorgen Strand Larsen
Posted on August 26, 2025
Newcastle United's pursuit of striker Jorgen Strand Larsen has hit a snag as Wolverhampton Wanderers rejected a £50 million bid for the Norway international. The Magpies are actively seeking a center-forward following the departure of Callum Wilson, who left the club when his contract expired last month. Despite Newcastle's interest, Wolves have made it clear they do not wish to sell Strand Larsen, who recently joined the club on a permanent deal for £23 million after a successful loan spell that saw him score 14 goals.
Wolves manager Vitor Pereira emphasized the importance of Strand Larsen to the team, describing him as a "very important player." Pereira noted that the striker is committed and focused on helping the club succeed, particularly following the loss of Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha to Manchester United this summer. This rejection illustrates the difficulties Newcastle faces in securing a top striker before the transfer window closes on September 1.
Newcastle has also seen two bids rejected for Brentford's Yoane Wissa, who is now expected to remain with his current club. The situation is complicated further by the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Alexander Isak, who is training away from the squad as he seeks a move to Liverpool. With the transfer deadline approaching, Newcastle needs to act quickly to find a suitable replacement for Wilson, especially after missing out on other targets such as Hugo Ekitike and Joao Pedro earlier in the summer. As they navigate these challenges, the pressure is mounting on the club to bolster their attacking options before the window shuts.
