Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid Pursue Kobe Mainoo on Loan
Posted on August 27, 2025
Both Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Kobe Mainoo on loan. The 20-year-old has yet to feature for United in the current season, having been left out of the squad for the opening games, raising concerns about his future at Old Trafford. Despite a promising breakthrough into the senior team last season, Mainoo's fit within manager Ruben Amorim's tactical setup has come into question, particularly with his omission from the starting lineup.
The Madrid clubs are keen to capitalize on Mainoo's situation, exploring the possibility of a loan deal before the transfer window closes. While Mainoo is open to remaining at United, he is eager for consistent first-team opportunities and is attracted by the chance to play in the Champions League, which both Spanish clubs can offer.
However, securing a deal may prove challenging. Manchester United is reluctant to let Mainoo leave on loan due to their limited midfield options, having only four recognized central midfielders in the squad. The club views Mainoo as an important part of their long-term plans, and despite his current lack of playing time, they believe he will be vital as the season progresses and fixtures increase.
As the deadline approaches, the situation remains fluid, with both Madrid clubs keeping a close eye on developments surrounding Mainoo's availability.
