Tottenham Hotspur Board Rejects Two Takeover Bids: Club "Not for Sale"
Posted on September 08, 2025
Tottenham Hotspur's board has firmly stated that the club is "not for sale" after rejecting two separate expressions of interest in acquiring the Premier League outfit. This announcement follows recent speculation about a potential takeover, particularly after Daniel Levy stepped down as chairman last Thursday, a position he held since 2001.
The Tottenham board's statement clarified that they had received preliminary proposals from PCP International Finance, linked to former Newcastle co-owner Amanda Staveley, and from a consortium led by Dr. Roger Kennedy and Wing-Fai Ng through Firehawk Holdings Limited. However, both bids were unequivocally rejected, with the board asserting that ENIC, the majority owner, has no intention of selling its stake in the club.
Despite the ongoing speculation, it was reported that Staveley will address her intentions in a statement on Monday, indicating that she does not plan to pursue a bid for Tottenham. ENIC, owned by the Lewis family trust and controlling nearly 87% of the club, remains open to external investment but is primarily focused on supporting the newly appointed leadership team, including non-executive chairman Peter Charrington, CEO Vinai Venkatesham, and head coach Thomas Frank, in their efforts to enhance on-field success.
This firm stance from the Tottenham board comes at a time of transition for the club as it aims to establish a more competitive presence in both domestic and European football. The rejection of the takeover bids highlights the board's commitment to maintaining control and stability within the club's management structure.
