Manchester United Reports Record Revenue Amidst On-Field Struggles

Posted on September 18, 2025

Manchester United has announced a record financial revenue of £666.5 million for the last fiscal year, despite the team's disappointing performance on the pitch, where they finished 15th in the Premier League—marking their worst position since 1973-74. The club's financial success is largely attributed to the commencement of a five-year sponsorship deal with Snapdragon, which significantly boosted their commercial revenue to £333.3 million.

Chief Executive Omar Berrada highlighted the resilience of Manchester United in generating record revenues during a challenging period for the club. He stated, "To have generated record revenues during such a challenging year for the club demonstrates the resilience which is a hallmark of Manchester United." Despite the positive financial results, the club reported an overall loss of £33 million, a significant improvement from the previous year's loss of £113.2 million.

Matchday revenue also reached a record high of £160.3 million, although the club is facing challenges related to their absence from European competitions this season. With a reduction in broadcasting revenue due to playing in the Europa League last season, and not qualifying for Europe this year, Manchester United is looking to bounce back. The financial report reflects ongoing measures, including cost-cutting initiatives, to stabilize the club’s finances while aiming for a more competitive squad.

Additionally, the club's long-term debt continues to be a concern, remaining at approximately $650 million. However, recent player acquisitions indicate United's ambition to improve their squad and regain their status among the elite in football. As they prepare for the current season, the management remains focused on long-term goals while addressing immediate performance issues on the field.
