Mikel Arteta Expresses Concern Over Viktor Gyokeres Injury
Posted on November 04, 2025
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has voiced his concerns regarding the muscle injury sustained by Viktor Gyokeres during the recent 2-0 victory against Burnley. The 27-year-old striker, who joined Arsenal for £64 million in the summer, scored the opening goal of the match but was forced to leave the pitch at halftime due to discomfort.
Gyokeres has been a significant addition to the team, having scored four goals this season, but has not participated in training since the match against Burnley. As a result, he will miss the upcoming Champions League fixture against Slavia Prague. When questioned about Gyokeres' availability, Arteta confirmed, "No, he's definitely not available. He hasn't trained today. We need to do some more tests and scans in the next few days to understand the extent of the injury."
Arteta did not provide a hopeful update regarding the severity of the injury, stating, "I am concerned because he hasn't had many muscular issues and he needed to leave the pitch... especially for a player that is very, very explosive." This situation comes as Arsenal grapples with an injury crisis, with seven players currently sidelined, including key forwards like Kai Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Jesus.
The injury to Gyokeres adds to the challenges facing Arsenal as they aim to maintain their competitive form in both the Premier League and Champions League. As they prepare for crucial upcoming matches, the club will be keen to monitor Gyokeres' recovery and the overall health of the squad.
