Arsenal Defender Katie Reid to Miss Rest of Season Due to ACL Injury

Posted on November 11, 2025

Arsenal's promising young defender, Katie Reid, has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during training. The injury occurred recently and has put a significant dent in both Reid's career progression and Arsenal's defensive lineup.

The 19-year-old was having a breakout season, making six league appearances and even earning her first call-up to the England senior team last month. However, she was forced to withdraw from that squad due to a minor injury prior to making her debut. Reid's absence now marks her as the seventh player in the Women’s Super League to suffer an ACL injury this season, a list that includes her teammates Manuela Zinsberger and Michelle Agyemang.

Arsenal has released a statement expressing their support for Reid as she begins her recovery, stating that she is being looked after by the club's medical team at their training facility. Reid is expected to undergo surgery in the coming days.

The loss of Reid is a significant blow for Arsenal, who currently sit fourth in the Women’s Super League standings, trailing leaders Manchester City by six points. The team faces Bayern Munich next in the Women’s Champions League group stage, and they will miss Reid's contributions both defensively and as an emerging talent on the international front.

As Arsenal navigates this challenging period, fans and teammates alike look forward to Reid's eventual return to action, where she can continue to develop her promising career in women's football.
