Manchester United Plays Down Injury Concerns for Benjamin Sesko
Posted on November 11, 2025
Manchester United has reassured fans that the injury sustained by striker Benjamin Sesko during Saturday's match against Tottenham is not as severe as initially feared. The £73.7 million forward limped off the pitch after just 30 minutes, having injured his knee during a tackle by Micky van de Ven.
Despite concerns regarding his availability, head coach Ruben Amorim has indicated that the club does not expect Sesko to be sidelined for an extended period. He emphasized the necessity for further assessments at United's Carrington training ground before confirming the exact nature and extent of the injury.
Sesko will miss crucial World Cup qualifiers with Slovenia against Kosovo and Sweden, matches that are vital for their hopes of reaching the playoffs. Nonetheless, the club remains optimistic about his recovery, distancing itself from fears of a lengthy absence, especially as United prepares for the potential loss of other key players heading into January due to the Africa Cup of Nations.
In a somewhat related move, United has allowed defender Lisandro Martinez to join the Argentine national team ahead of their friendly against Angola, as he continues his recovery from a major knee surgery earlier this year. Martinez is nearing a return to competitive action but will initially be kept out of matchday squads to ensure a careful rehabilitation process.
As the situation develops, both Sesko and Martinez's health will be pivotal for United's ambitions as they navigate a challenging season ahead. The team is looking to regain consistency and form as they aim to solidify their standings in both the Premier League and European competitions.
