Real Madrid has decided to close the roof of the stadium
Posted on April 11, 2024
According to the "World Sports Daily", UEFA confirmed this morning that Real Madrid, in tonight's match against Manchester City, after consultation between UEFA match representatives and referees, has decided to close the roof of the Bernabeu Stadium. At the same time, the colors of the team jerseys and a tifo to be displayed at the home ground for both teams have been determined.
According to reports, these three decisions were made in the preliminary meetings of both teams, following the regulations of the UEFA Champions League, which state: "Before the start of the match, UEFA match representatives, in consultation with the referees, will decide whether the retractable roof of the stadium should be open or closed during the match. This decision must be announced at the pre-match organization meeting, and in case of any change in weather, consultation with the referees can take place at any time before kick-off. However, once the match starts, regardless of circumstances, the roof must remain closed until halftime or the end of the full match."
"Team jersey colors for both sides have been determined, with Real Madrid wearing white jerseys except for goalkeeper Luning, who will wear green. Manchester City's goalkeeper will wear yellow, while the other players will wear dark blue. The main referee Letessier and other members of the referee team will wear red and black outfits. Additionally, at the meeting, a tifo for Real Madrid's home ground was approved, with the slogan: 'Great, you have already created history, there is still history to be made.'"
The report states that Portuguese coach Roberto Martinez will attend as a member of the UEFA observer group and will select the best player of the match. It is worth noting that Martinez is a talisman for Real Madrid; whenever he visits the Bernabeu Stadium, Martinez is synonymous with victory or good results for Real Madrid. Martinez attended the last season's match where Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Manchester City at home. In addition, in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals of the 2022-2023 season, Real Madrid played against Chelsea at home, and he also visited the Bernabeu Stadium, where Real Madrid won 2-0.
However, Martinez's magic began in the 2021-22 season. First, in the round of 16, Real Madrid lost 0-1 away in the first leg but turned the tables with a 3-1 win at home in the second leg to advance. Next was against Manchester City, where Real Madrid miraculously eliminated Guardiola's team with a total score of 6-5. Martinez attended all these matches at the Bernabeu Stadium. He also attended the UEFA Champions League final held in Paris, where Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 1-0 to win their fourteenth Champions League title.
