West Ham Sign Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund for £27m

Posted on August 06, 2024

West Ham United have strengthened their attacking lineup by signing German striker Niclas Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund for a fee of £27 million. The 31-year-old forward, who joined Dortmund from Werder Bremen last summer, had an impressive season, scoring 15 goals in 46 appearances and helping the team reach the Champions League final.

Fullkrug has also made his mark on the international stage, scoring 13 goals in 21 appearances for Germany and contributing two goals during Germany's quarter-final run at Euro 2024, despite not starting any matches.

Expressing his excitement about the move, Fullkrug said, "I'm delighted to be here, and I can't wait to get out on the pitch with my new team-mates. I think the Premier League is the best league in the world, and for me, it is the right time to move over to England and play for a big club like West Ham."

Fullkrug's arrival marks West Ham's fifth signing of the summer under new manager Julen Lopetegui. The club has also brought in Max Kilman from Wolves, Dutch forward Crysencio Summerville from Leeds, goalkeeper Wes Foderingham from Sheffield United, and Brazilian winger Luis Guilherme from Palmeiras.

West Ham, who finished ninth in the Premier League last season, continue to look for reinforcements and are reportedly interested in Manchester United full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Fullkrug's addition to the team is seen as a significant boost, bringing experience and goal-scoring prowess to help West Ham push for higher league standings and success in upcoming competitions.
