Wizards snap losing streak vs. Nuggets behind huge Jordan Poole shooting night

The Washington Wizards have played some of the worst basketball in the NBA over the course of the last month.
Entering their matchup against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night, the Wizards were in the midst of a 16 game losing streak. With a 2-18 record, not many people expected Washington to find a way to win against the Nuggets and former multiple-time MVP winner Nikola Jokic.
However, the Wizards stayed to course and managed to find a way to snap their double digit losing streak, even with the odds stacked against them. Now, with a 3-18 record, fans of the Wizards can at least get a small taste of victory as the team continues to stay in front of the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes.
Nonetheless, here's a look at the top performers in the team's win against the Nuggets.
Jordan Poole drops 39 points In the win, Jordan Poole gave Wizards fans a look of just how good he can be at his best. It's always been known that the Michigan prduct can score with the best of them, the only problem is getting him to do it consistently. Nevertheless, he showed up against the Nuggets and led the team to a win, Poole finished the game with 39 points, eight assists and five rebounds, while shooting 46.2% from field goal range (12/26 FG) and 45% from beyond the arc (9/20 3PT) in the win.
Justin Champagnie surprises in start Justin Champagnie has bounced around the league over the last couple of season, but if he can stack up performances like he did Saturday night, he could earn himself a role with the Wizards moving forward.
The 23-year-old ended the night with 23 points, eight rebounds and an assists while shooting 50% from three (2/4 3PT) and 69.2% from field goal range (9/13 FG) on the night.
Jonas Valanciunas thrives in starting lineup Jonas Valanciunas was inserted into the starting lineup as the Wizards injury woes continues to stack up. The big man took advantage of the opportunity with 20 points, 12 rebounds and five assists in the win.
Although he may not be a part of the Wizards future plans, he's only helping himself and Wizards general manager Will Dawkins as he continues to increase his trade value.
Nikola Jokic does MVP things Nikola Jokic may not be apart of the Wizards roster, but with a performance like his on Saturday night, it's hard to not acknowledge it. The Serbian star was the lone Nuggets player to show up against the Wizards finishing the night with a monster 56 point, 16 rebounds and eight assists despite the loss.
