The Los Angeles Lakers have officially signed guard Jordan Goodwin to a two-way contract following their recent victory over the Golden State Warriors. The announcement was made by ESPN's Shams Charania, confirming Goodwin's transition to the Lakers after playing in the G League for South Bay. This signing comes as a strategic move for the Lakers, who currently hold a 30-19 record and are vying for a strong playoff position in the Western Conference.
Goodwin, who is 26 years old, has previously played for the Phoenix Suns, Memphis Grizzlies, and Washington Wizards over three seasons in the NBA. His career averages stand at 6.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, with shooting percentages of 40.5% from the field and 30.8% from beyond the arc. This season, he has showcased improved performance in the G League, averaging 14.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 3.3 assists over 14 games, demonstrating his potential to contribute to the Lakers' roster.
The Lakers' management is hopeful that Goodwin's versatility and experience will bolster their lineup as they look to maintain momentum with four consecutive wins and an impressive 8-2 record over their last ten games. Their next challenge will be against the Indiana Pacers, providing Goodwin an opportunity to integrate into the team's rotation as they push for playoff success.
