February NBA Awards: Mitchell and Mobley Shine

In the latest NBA monthly awards, Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers and LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Month for February 2025. Mitchell led the Cavaliers to an impressive 10-1 record, averaging 25.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 5.3 assists. Notably, he scored over 20 points in eight of his ten games, including a standout performance of 41 points in a remarkable comeback win against the Boston Celtics. Meanwhile, LeBron James, at 40 years old, guided the Lakers to a 10-2 record, averaging 29.3 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 6.9 assists. This marked James as the oldest player to receive the Player of the Month award, surpassing the previous record held by Karl Malone.
The Rookies of the Month honors went to Isaiah Collier of the Utah Jazz and Zaccharie Risacher of the Atlanta Hawks. Collier stood out with averages of 11.5 points, 9.5 assists, and 3.9 rebounds, leading all rookies in assists per game. His six point-assist double-doubles were also the most among rookies. Risacher averaged 12.8 points, ranking as one of the top Eastern Conference rookies, with consistent scoring in ten of his twelve games.
In the defensive categories, Toumani Camara of the Portland Trail Blazers and Evan Mobley of the Cavaliers were recognized. Camara excelled with over 80 rebounds, 20 steals, and 10 blocks throughout the month, while Mobley became the first player to win the Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Month award multiple times. His impressive defensive stats included 25 blocks, showcasing his dominance on that end of the court. The Coaches of the Month were awarded to Mark Daigneault of the Oklahoma City Thunder and J.B. Bickerstaff of the Detroit Pistons, both leading their teams to successful records during February.
