Stephen Curry to Miss Game 2 with Hamstring Injury

Posted on May 08, 2025

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry is set to miss Game 2 of the playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a left hamstring strain. The injury occurred during the Warriors' 99-88 victory in Game 1, prompting an MRI that confirmed the strain. Curry will be re-evaluated in one week, sidelining him for at least the next two games in the Western Conference semifinals.

Curry, an 11-time All-Star and the Warriors' primary offensive weapon, exited the Game 1 matchup with 8:19 remaining in the second quarter after experiencing discomfort in his hamstring. Before leaving, he had scored 13 points on 5-for-9 shooting, including three three-pointers. His absence is a significant blow to Golden State's playoff hopes, as his leadership and scoring ability are crucial for the team's success.

While the Warriors have not provided an official timeline for Curry's return, NBA players with similar grade 1 hamstring strains typically miss around 10 days. This raises the possibility that he could return for a potential Game 5 or later in the series, depending on his recovery. Warriors head coach Steve Kerr expressed concern for Curry but also noted that the rest of the team performed admirably in his absence during Game 1.

Jimmy Butler, another key player for the Warriors, emphasized the team's need to stay strong and maintain their momentum while Curry recovers. The Warriors will look to continue their winning ways as they prepare for Game 2, hoping to hold down the fort until their star point guard can return to the lineup.
