Michael Jordan's 1992-93 Bulls Jersey Sells for $2.6 Million

Posted on May 19, 2025

In a remarkable auction, a jersey worn by Michael Jordan during the Chicago Bulls' 1992-93 NBA season has sold for an astonishing $2.623 million, including the buyer's premium, at Heritage Auctions. This jersey, which Jordan donned in 17 games, has been authenticated as part of the iconic player's early career when he helped lead the Bulls to their first three-peat.

The jersey gained further notoriety as it was featured on the cover of the October 18, 1993, issue of Sports Illustrated. Authentication services MeiGray and Sports Investors Authentication confirmed that this is the only Jordan uniform that has been matched to any season of the Bulls' initial championship run. While a definitive photo match was not established for all the games, experts believe it was likely worn during every road game from November 6, 1992, to March 24, 1993.

Jordan had an impressive season, leading the NBA in scoring for the seventh consecutive year, tying Wilt Chamberlain for the most consecutive scoring titles. His performance during the NBA Finals that year was historic, as he averaged a record 41 points over six games, although he wore a different uniform during those finals.

This sale further solidifies the value of Jordan memorabilia, although it still falls short of the record set by his 1998 NBA Finals jersey, which fetched $10.091 million in September 2022, marking the highest amount ever paid for a piece of sports memorabilia. The sale of the 1992-93 jersey underscores the enduring legacy of Michael Jordan in the world of basketball and collectible sports items.
