Dell Curry Confident in Steph Curry's NBA Future
Posted on June 17, 2025
Dell Curry, the father of Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, has expressed strong confidence regarding his son's future in the NBA. Despite speculation about retirement in 2027, Dell believes that Steph is far from considering hanging up his sneakers. He emphasized that Steph still has a passion for the game and is driven by the desire to win another championship.
Steph, now 37, has had an illustrious career since being drafted by the Warriors in 2009. He has won four NBA championships, been named the league's Most Valuable Player twice, and holds the record for the most three-pointers made in NBA history. With two years left on his current contract, where he is set to earn $59.6 million next season and $62.6 million in 2026-27, Dell expects his son to continue playing at a high level.
This past season, Steph played in 70 games, averaging 24.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 6.0 assists. Although the Warriors faced an early playoff exit against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Steph's performance remained impressive, showcasing his enduring skill and competitive nature.
Dell's comments come amid a backdrop of increasing scrutiny about the longevity of players in the league, especially as they age. However, with his father's support and Steph's evident love for basketball, the future looks promising for the Warriors' star as he aims for more accolades before he decides to retire.
