Kevin Durant Acquires Minority Stake in Paris Saint-Germain

Posted on June 21, 2025

NBA star Kevin Durant has made headlines by purchasing a minority stake in Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the reigning Champions League winners. The agreement was formalized between Durant and Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), the majority shareholder of the Ligue 1 club. While the financial specifics of the deal were not disclosed, it marks a significant step for both the player and the club.

Under the terms of the partnership, Durant, through his media and investment company Boardroom, co-founded with Rich Kleiman, is set to engage in various commercial and investment initiatives with QSI. Durant expressed his excitement about the opportunity, stating that it is an honor to partner with QSI and become a shareholder in a club that holds significant personal importance to him. He emphasized his eagerness to contribute to PSG's growth and explore new investment opportunities.

This move comes as the NBA and other organizations discuss the prospect of establishing a new league in Europe, suggesting Durant's involvement might extend beyond mere financial investment. PSG's president, Nasser Al Khelaïfi, expressed confidence that the partnership will drive the club's global expansion and diversification, particularly in the U.S. and other international markets.

Durant, who is a two-time NBA champion and a four-time Olympic gold medalist, previously acquired a 5% stake in the MLS club Philadelphia Union in 2020. His new role at PSG is expected to leverage his experience and insights in both basketball and sports management, further solidifying the crossover between different sports and investment opportunities.
