Kyle Lowry Returns to Philadelphia 76ers for 20th NBA Season
Posted on July 08, 2025
Kyle Lowry has officially signed a one-year deal to return to the Philadelphia 76ers, marking his 20th season in the NBA. The announcement was made through his agent, Mark Bartelstein of Priority Sports. Lowry, now 39 years old, is set to continue his tenure with the 76ers, where he has played for the past two seasons.
A veteran guard known for his leadership and experience, Lowry won an NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors in 2019. In his previous season, he averaged 3.9 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 2.7 assists across 35 games, which were all career lows. Despite these numbers, his presence is expected to bolster the young backcourt of the 76ers, which includes emerging talents like Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain, and VJ Edgecombe.
Lowry's return to Philadelphia is seen as an opportunity for him to provide valuable mentorship to the younger players while contributing depth to the team's rotation. He previously signed a one-year, $3.3 million contract with the 76ers, and his wealth of experience will be crucial as the team continues to build towards competing in the Eastern Conference. Throughout his career, Lowry has also played for the Miami Heat, Houston Rockets, and Memphis Grizzlies, who originally drafted him in 2006.
