Bradley Beal Agrees to Buyout with Suns, Set to Join Clippers
Posted on July 17, 2025
Bradley Beal, a three-time NBA All-Star, has finalized a buyout agreement with the Phoenix Suns and is set to sign with the Los Angeles Clippers on a two-year deal worth $11 million, which includes a player option for the 2026-27 season. This move allows Beal to become one of the top free agents available next summer, following his departure from the Suns after a challenging two-year stint.
The decision comes after Beal and his representatives assessed the best basketball fit for his skill set. The Suns granted him permission to engage with interested teams, leading to negotiations that ultimately resulted in his exit. Beal's recruitment to the Clippers was significantly influenced by fellow player James Harden, who directly communicated with him during the process.
In the buyout, Beal has agreed to sacrifice $13.9 million from the remaining $110 million on his contract with the Suns, who are expected to stretch the remaining salary over five years. This move not only benefits Beal by placing him on a playoff-contending team but also grants the Suns greater flexibility in their team-building efforts, as they look to reshape their roster under new leadership.
Beal, who averaged 17.6 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.8 rebounds during his time with the Suns, will fill the shooting guard position for the Clippers following the departure of Norman Powell. His addition complements the Clippers' core, which includes stars Kawhi Leonard and James Harden, as they aim to enhance their competitive edge in the Western Conference.
