AJ Green Signs Four-Year, $45 Million Extension with the Bucks
Posted on October 17, 2025
The Milwaukee Bucks have secured guard AJ Green with a four-year, $45 million fully guaranteed contract extension. This agreement, confirmed by Green's agent Matt Bollero, highlights the Bucks' commitment to the 26-year-old as he has quickly risen through the ranks since going undrafted in 2022. Initially signing a two-way contract, Green has evolved into a key player for the Bucks, now solidifying his position with this lucrative long-term deal.
Green's journey has been remarkable, transitioning from a modest scoring average of 7.4 points per game last season to becoming a full-time starter under head coach Doc Rivers. In his previous two seasons, he totaled 406 points, but last season alone, he tallied 541 points, demonstrating significant improvement and consistency. His shooting prowess is particularly noteworthy; he boasts a career average of 42% from beyond the arc and has maintained at least a 40% 3-point shooting rate throughout his NBA career.
Despite having started only eight regular-season games before this season, Green proved his mettle during the playoffs, particularly in a crucial Game 5 where he scored 19 points in 46 minutes. His playoff performance elevated his scoring average to 11.0 points per game while shooting an impressive 51% from three-point range. As the Bucks prepare for the upcoming season, Green has already been named a starter in all four of their preseason games, underscoring his integral role in the team's strategy moving forward.
With this extension, Green is now under contract with the Bucks through the 2029-30 season, effectively keeping him from entering free agency next summer. This decision is pivotal for the Bucks as they look to build a competitive roster around their core players, aiming for success in the upcoming NBA season.
