This Knicks-Pistons Trade Features Bojan Bogdanovic

One NBA writer has proposed that the Detroit Pistons and New York Knicks make a trade featuring Bojan Bogdanovic this summer. Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed that the Pistons trade Bogdanovic to the Knicks for Evan Fournier and two picks in the 2024 draft.
“By sending Bogdanović to the Knicks, Detroit gets control of its 2024 first and second-round selections,” Buckley wrote. “This would mean the Pistons could have the freedom to trade four first-rounders (in 2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030) instead of one. While Fournier isn’t at the same level as Bogdanovic, he does give Detroit another floor-spacing, veteran forward to place between the young guards and forward on this roster.
“For a New York team that ranks dead last in three-point shooting this postseason (28.2 percent), getting Bogdanović would make a huge impact on this offense overall.”
Bogdanovic is one of the best shooters in the NBA. The veteran averaged 21.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists this season for the Pistons while shooting 48.8% from the field, 41.1% from beyond the arc and 88.4% from the free-throw line.
In October 2022, Bogdanovic signed a two-year, $39 million extension with the Pistons. The swingman will make $20 million next season. Detroit is in rebuild mode, so it makes sense for the franchise to move Bogdanovic, a player who can help multiple teams in the postseason.
“The 34-year-old averaged a career-high 21.6 points for the Pistons this past season, hitting 45.5 percent of his catch-and-shoot threes,” Buckley wrote. “Having him space the floor for players like Jalen Brunson, RJ Barrett and Julius Randle to operate would help open everything up.”
The Knicks could start Jalen Brunson, Bogdanovic, RJ Barrett, Julius Randle, and Mitchell Robinson next season if this trade with the Pistons goes through. New York lost to the Miami Heat in the second round of the playoffs in six games.
