Jordan Poole Emulated NBA Legend With 41-Point Outburst
Posted on October 20, 2023
Jordan Poole of the Washington Wizards was in the zone on Wednesday night.
Poole posted a stunning 41 points in just three quarters, setting fire to the New York Knicks and giving Wizards fans something to cheer about in the preseason.
His game was remarkable enough on its own, but it was made even more impressive when compared to another Washington icon.
Ballislife pointed out that the last time a Wizards player scored 41 in a preseason game was in 2001 when 38-year-old Michael Jordan came to the team after three seasons of retirement.
At the time, Jordan was wanting to prove that even at his age and even with his retirement he was still one of the best players alive.
Poole is looking to prove something too.
He averaged 20.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists last season with the Golden State Warriors.
But his postseason was rocky and he was ultimately sent away.
It was a tough end to an exciting four-year run with the Warriors.
Now that he’s with the Wizards, Poole is looking to take on more of a leadership role and really make the team feel like his own.
He will be doing so alongside Kyle Kuzma, who has been plotting a similar course for the last couple of seasons.
If Poole can have more games like this in the new season, he will remind the league how great he can be – and will also leave the Warriors hanging their heads in shame for letting him go.
41 points in a preseason game is very impressive, especially in just three quarters.
Now it is time for Poole to prove that he can do that in the regular season too.
