Jazz Reveal MRI Details on Keyonte George's Foot Injury
Posted on December 15, 2023
Utah Jazz fans can somewhat breathe a sigh of relief. The Jazz announced that starting point guard Keyonte George “avoided significant damage” regarding the left foot injury that occurred versus the New York Knicks on Wednesday night.
George had an MRI done on Thursday and will be re-evaluated after Utah’s current road trip.
George’s setback is unrelated to this year's Summer League injury. The No. 16 overall pick turned his right ankle versus the Denver Nuggets, forcing him to miss multiple games.
It was a good week for George leading up to the Knicks game. On Monday night, he scored a career-high 30 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Also, Draft Digest has him taking the No. 5 spot in their Rookie Ladder rankings.
George was averaging 11.4 points and 5.2 assists per game. After being anointed the starter earlier this year, those numbers were bound to go up.
Utah will be missing their starting backcourt for an extended time. It was announced Jordan Clarkson will be out for at least two weeks with a hamstring issue.
Collin Sexton replaced Clarkson in the starting lineup versus the Knicks. As for replacing George, Kris Dunn, Ochai Agbaji, and Talen Horton-Tucker are candidates to get the starting nod in the rookie's absence.
Jazz fans will find out what head coach Will Hardy has planned when the Jazz face the Portland Trail Blazers on the road on Thursday night at 8:00 p.m. MST
