Timberwolves Proceed With Coach’s Knee Surgery: Plans for Finch’s Return in Playoff Clash Against Nuggets
Posted on May 03, 2024
The Minnesota Timberwolves are gearing up for their Western Conference semifinal series against the Denver Nuggets with plans for head coach Chris Finch to join them despite undergoing knee surgery.
Assistant coach Micah Nori has taken the lead in Finch’s absence, ensuring the team remains prepared for the upcoming games.
Following a successful procedure to repair a ruptured patellar tendon in his right knee, Finch is expected to travel to Denver to be with the team for Game 1. However, seating arrangements on the bench pose a challenge due to limited space and the need for Finch to keep his leg extended for healing.
The Timberwolves are reviewing options to accommodate Finch safely, including adjusting seating configurations and potentially relocating staff to create more room.
If seating adjustments prove difficult, Finch may participate in pregame and halftime meetings from the locker room and watch the games from a suite. Despite the logistical challenges, the Timberwolves are determined to ensure Finch remains connected with the team throughout the series.
Point guard Mike Conley, who was recently honored as the NBA’s Teammate of the Year, emphasized the team’s respect for both Finch and Nori, highlighting the importance of their leadership during this time.
While Finch’s injury is unfortunate, the Timberwolves remain focused on their playoff goals and are determined to make him proud in his absence. Center Rudy Gobert expressed the team’s solidarity and support for Finch as they prepare to compete in the postseason.
