Clippers’ Tyronn Lue Addresses Possibility Kawhi Leonard Misses Season With Injury
Posted on October 18, 2024
A somewhat strange offseason for the Los Angeles Clippers has become a concerning build-up to the 2024-25 regular season. Six-time NBA All-Star Kawhi Leonard is still dealing with inflammation in his right knee, and according to ESPN's Shams Charania, will be sidelined for an "indefinite period of time" to begin the year.
With the Clippers set to play their first season at the new Intuit Dome, the concerning news of Leonard's injury timeline looms large over the franchise.
This news, paired with a new-look roster absent of Paul George, who joined the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency, has set the stage for a tough start to the new season.
While an "indefinite" timeline is less than ideal, it poses the question of whether Leonard could potentially miss the entire year. As Janis Carr of the OC Register reported, Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue addressed that topic on Thursday, offering a somewhat glass-half-full response.
"I don't see those chances [of not playing this season]," Lue said. "But I'm not a doctor either, but I don't see those chances."
Lue also said that Leonard suffered a setback to his knee injury following the Team USA trials for the 2024 Olympics, per Carr.
