Jack Grealish Undergoes Surgery, Expresses Disappointment Over Season's End

Posted on February 10, 2026, updated on February 10, 2026

Jack Grealish has confirmed that he underwent surgery for a foot stress fracture, expressing his disappointment about how the season has concluded for him. The 30-year-old midfielder, currently on loan at Everton from Manchester City, sustained the injury during a match against Aston Villa on January 18.

In an emotional Instagram post, Grealish stated, "Didn't want the season to end like this but that's football, gutted." He reassured fans that he is focused on recovery, stating he aims to return "fitter, stronger and better than before."

This injury sadly rules him out of contention for the upcoming World Cup, despite having shown promise during his loan period, where he made 22 appearances, scoring twice and assisting six goals. His recent form had sparked hopes of a recall to the national team.

Having joined City for a British record £100 million in 2021, Grealish had a significant impact, winning multiple trophies. However, after a challenging previous season, he found a new opportunity at Everton, where he appreciated the support from the staff, teammates, and fans.

As he embarks on his recovery journey, Grealish remains committed to contributing to both Everton and his future aspirations in football.
